Military service in the 1st Armoured Division:

Adam Kreutzer was a veteran of World War II. In September 1939, together with his brother, he crossed the Polish-Romanian border. He was imprisoned in the internment camp in Timisu de Jos. Transported with other minors to France, after its defeat in 1940 from Bordeaux aboard an English ship, he arrived in Liverpool. He served in the 1 Polish Armoured Division in the 3rd Supply Company of the 3rd Rifle Brigade. He took part in the Battle of Falaise, then in the battles for Belgium and the Netherlands. He ended his combat tour in Wilhelmshaven.

Post-war activities:

After the end of the war, he studied at a trade school in the Netherlands for two years, then served in a demobilization camp for Polish soldiers. After the demobilization, he and his wife Hania left England and emigrated to Canada in 1952, where they raised three children: Witold (born in 1951), Janusz (born in 1952) and Rita (born in 1961).  After moving on in Toronto he worked as a taxi driver, then as a salesman. He was actively employed as a salesman and joined Association of Soldiers of the 1st Armored Division in Canada. In 1981 he was elected its’ President. After 1989 he was an active member of the Polish community (vice-president of the Canadian Polish Congress in the Toronto district and the President of the Association of Polish Combatants Branch 20 in Toronto). He was a devoted father and grandfather, and family was the most important thing to him.
