Fates before joining 1st Polish Armored Division:
Franciszek (Frank) valiantly served with the 10th Cavalry Brigade, defending his country, which in September 1939 was under attack from both Germany and Russia. Corporal Lozinski later served with the Polish Land Forces overseas in France from May 18, 1940, to June 30, 1940.
Military service in 1st Armored Division:
Subsequently, Frank participated in the ‘Battle of Normandy’ alongside British and Canadian military forces as a soldier of 1 Polish Armored Division, contributing to the Operation in North West Europe from August 8, 1944, to May 3, 1945.
Frank’s quest for independence led him to serve with the Polish Forces under British command from July 1, 1940, to June 16, 1947.
After War:
In April 1951, Frank relocated from Great Britain to Fall River (Massachusetts, USA), where he pursued a career as a locksmith and watchmaker. He was a devout Catholic and an active member of both St. Anne’s and St. Stanislaus Church.
On November 11, 2007, the City of Fall River honored Frank for his outstanding service and unwavering dedication. He was acclaimed as a World War II hero for his remarkable contributions under the commands of the Polish, British, Canadian, and American military.
Franciszek (Frank) Lozinski, aged 95, passed away at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River on March 8, 2014.
