Fates before joining 1st Polish Armored Division:
Michał Mieczysław Wojciech Gutowski was a Brigadier General in the Polish Army and a skilled equestrian. He participated in two events at the 1936 Summer Olympics. Gutowski dedicated his career to the Polish Army, serving as a professional officer.
He took part in the September Campaign during World War II. Following Poland’s defeat, he joined the Polish Armed Forces in Western Europe, initially in France and later in Britain.
Military service in 1st Armored Division:
He fought alongside General Stanisław Maczek in the 1st Armoured Division, notably in the Battle of Falaise.
After War:
Post-war, he immigrated to Canada, where he contributed as a military instructor for the Canadian forces. Subsequently, he established an equestrian club and provided training for Canadian equestrian riders.
Throughout his life, Gutowski received numerous prestigious state and military honors, He was laid to rest at the Powązki Military Cemetery in Warsaw, Poland.
