Fates before joining 1st<\/sup> Polish Armored Division:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jedamski family ran a farm in the village of Blizno near Grudzi\u0105dz. In 1941, Alojzy Jedamski and his family were resettled near Bydgoszcz. In 1943, he was forcibly conscripted into the Wehrmacht and sent to the French-Belgian border to supplement the number of German soldiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Military service in 1st<\/sup> Armored Division:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 11, 1944, he managed to escape and join the Allied forces. On September 1, 1944, in Scotland, he received uniforms and weapons and took the military oath in the Polish Army. Assigned to the 10th Dragoon Regiment (2nd Squadron, Reconnaissance Platoon) of the 1st Polish Armored Division. He joined the Division on the continent in September 1944, when Polish troops were already fighting in Belgium. He covered the entire combat route of the Division from Belgium to Germany, and was wounded twice – in the Netherlands on September 12, 1944 and in Germany on April 21, 1945.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After War:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 12, 1947, he was demobilized from the Polish Armed Forces in the West. Alojzy Jedamski returned to Poland in the fall of 1947. He settled in his hometown and ran a farm. Promoted to the rank of lieutenant. He died in 2023 as the one of the last soldiers of General Stanis\u0142aw Maczek in Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
